Barometer The wind seems to have settled on this course as forecast by the gribs. Barometer 1024. Wind has been rising and shifting easterly over the last 6 hrs David forecast boisterous conditions. He was absolutely correct. It's washing machine conditions today. Had to cancel fresh Mahi Mahi for dinner and settle for a tin of Cassioulet. NEVER again. That will be struck off the provisioning list.

Wind SSW 8-10 kts, Cloud cover 50-60% Light rain within the last 20 mins. The wind seems to have settled on this course as forecast by the gribs. Barometer 1018 steady On the rhumb line between Noumea and Brisbane, encountered a strong current which currently appears to flow NE and now N in direction. This is slowing progress. I didn't see that on a pilot chart, I guess I should have looked a little more carefully.
All well on board.
I can hear forecasts booming in from David at Gulf Harbour (with the exception of yesterday when everybody struggled) but was unable to call in. However was able to talk to Astarte in Vanuatu with no problem. Still struggling with the KISS radials installed when the metal fuel and water tanks were replaced with plastic!!!!!!

Great sailing conditions, just need a little more West in the wind to help us into New Caledonia. Approximately 95 miles from the pass (Dumbea) into New Caledonia, but by the time we gybe to get there, probably closer to 120 miles. Should be a very early arrival on Tuesday into Port Moselle and hope to complete formalities the same day.

Still motoring to get ahead of weather. (No real alternative, no wind!) Problems with SSB radio. Don't appear to be heard over longer distances. Apologies Patricia and David at gulf Harbour Radio, I hear you well, but my transmission doesn't appear to be heard by you or most people on the net. For info, I changed all the fuel and water tanks which were all copper bonded, fitted plastic tanks and a KISS. The configuration doesn't appear to work too well for Sirena but does weork well for others. I need to tweak it I guess.

I have always had trouble
Lumpy confused seas, rolling along with 743 miles to go to Noumea. Two reefs in main and reduced genoa for a quiet night.
Cleared customs at Marsden Cove 12:30 900 approx miles to Noumea, New Caledonia. Easy start to the trip, running downwind with just a headsail to Cape Brett. Staying with that configuration till morning. Nice easy start to the trip!
At Marsden Cove ready for customs tomorrow. Hoping for a good trip to New Caledonia.
Still waiting in Town Basin. Weather looks promising for departure to New Caledonia next weekend. Very changeable patterns. Keeping fingers crossed. Winter is on it's way!
