Hi Doug.....looks like you are making good progress. Errol flew corsairs in the Solomon's during WWII. He got shot down in Jacquinot Bay off the island of New Britain, Solomon Islands...parachuted into the sea & ultimately picked up by a passing American Catalina flying boat in the area. Enjoying a day in Luganville. An area with beautiful cool and clear fresh water swimming holes. Delivered to the local kindergarten books, educational materials and clothing which had been donated in NZ.

Left Port Vila last night and now in Havannah hArbour , North Efate. This was a very busy harbour during WW2 and there’s are many coke bottles to be found. A small museum on the shore of the harbour has a great collection as in those days each coke bottling company made their own bottles and put their city name on them.

Hi Doug....I just looked on the map of the Loyalty Islands & I'm pretty sure we stayed in the lagoon on the island with the town of Fayaoue nearby.....huge lagoon & lots of safe anchorages. Mark

Ahoy Doug! Mark Turner checking in. John just gave me the www.yit.nz address name & your boat name, so I will be able to track your progress. Hope this message finds you well & making good progress. FYI, I also spent time in Noumea & Iles de Pine (2 months total) when I was on my South Pacific trip back in 1981. I changed to an Aussie boat in Noumea & then headed up through Loyalty Islands to Vanawatu (can't remember which island), before we turned east to northern Tonga (Wa'au?) & then Fiji, Palmerston Atoll (N. Cooks), Rarotonga, then finished up in French Polynesia for 2 wonderful months. The lagoon we stayed in at the main Loyalty island was big & beautiful & a great anchorage. Let me know if you get this message. Hoping you will be back on the Coromandel after Christmas. We will be at Front Beach from Dec. 29 through Jan. 14 so we can catch up & talk story.
