Opua. 1100 nm and 8 days. Great passage, great sailing! What an end to our 3rd Pacific crossing. This one started 1st of March from Puerto Montt, Chile. Our own updates didn't come through because of an email error, but good service, thanks!
Ps the email address used was not registered on yit so the server did not recognise them!
24 nm to Opua. What an end to our 3rd Pacific crossing, that started 1st of March from Puerto Montt, Chile. Great passage, great sailing! Thanks for GHR providing this tracking.
Yesterday nice sailing. Beautiful night with stars and half moon. ETA Opua Tuesday afternoon.
Lightning and thunder during the whole night. Main in 3rd reef, corner of headsail out. Seas start to build, some wash over the boat, but Manta is taking waves beautifully. We stay down below, watch is kept by standing in companionway in the shelter of our solid "sprayhood". Great to have yesterday's chicken curry left :-). (28.10. the wind was ENE, not ESE as written.) All well.
Good progress, 150 nm / 24 hr. Now current in favour: speed 8 knots for a few hours. Yesterday sun and bucket wash in cockpit, now grey skies and drizzle. Seawater 22 deg C.
Smooth day with 10 kn SE, bumpy night with 25 kn SE. Baked bread and made meatballs when it still was less wind. Happy to have wind!
Short periods of sailing, then motoring again. Still 1,5 knot counter current. Don't recall reading about the current anywhere, didn't expect this. Yesterday we crossed the "long pants line", +20 C, normal Finnish summer deg feels cold!
Motoring since yesterday morning. 1 knot current reducing speed.
