Arrived Opua after an excellent passage from New Caledonia, via Norfolk Is. A beautiful late sunset and the distinctive NZ smell of sheep and honey, welcomed us. Total trip was 1047nm in 10 days.

The weather gods were kind and we dropped anchor in Cascade Bay, Norfolk Island at 0900. Our early morning arrival was met with lots of shoals of fish and swooping seabirds. The next morning we continued on to New Zealand, delighted we had finally managed to visit this beautiful and isolated little island.

Departed Pt Moselle, New Caledonia for Opua, New Zealand. Hoping winds will permit a Norfolk Island brief visit or sail-past en-route.

Sailed through Boulari Pass Nord by Amedee light at 0930. Pass to pass trip took 6 days 19 hrs. Apart from the jib sliding into the sea on the first night out, (and skillfully retrieved!) Barefoot had a good passage, with just the #4 jib on the solent stay (the mainsail was fine!).

After a long wait for a weather window for Fiji, Barefoot cleared the Goldcoast Seaway, Southport, Qld headed for New Caledonia. The temptation of French pastries and bagettes eventually won!

Barefoot has returned from summer in Tasmania and is in Southport preparing for departure; hopefully to Fiji, when weather permits.
