Anchored in bay ready to do Mt Hobson trek. We set off nice and early and took the South Fork Track over streams, swing bridges and kauri dam remains to reach DOC hut for a lunch break before making the final climb to the summit.   Talk about the 'Stairway to Heaven'.  We climbed flight after flight of stairs to climb above the tree tops to reach the summit.  Stunning view out to Mokohinau Islands, Hen & Chicks, Coromandel and we could even see Rangitoto.  After a rest and photo shoot it was down more stairs, which were steeper, more stairs, across swing bridges, upper kauri dam remains and boardwalks to meet up with the lower kauri dam track which led us back to Bush Beach and the dinghy (which felt like a limousine to me).  What a day!!  Anybody doing this walk certainly need to choose a fine, clear day, take lots to drink, eat and a camera.
